The Finance Department is responsible for the internal and external financial reporting for the Harry Fox Agency, Inc. (HFA) and its parent company the National Music Publishers Association, Inc. (NMPA) It is also responsible for the processing of Accounts Payable and bi-weekly Payroll, filing of all Corporate Taxes, compliance with Federal, State and local agencies, and abandoned property filings. In addition, the Department provides financial analyses and advice as required by the organization, and manages the annual corporate and benefits audits. We offer internships in the Spring, Summer and Fall. The Spring and Fall internships are part-time positions (12-15 hrs/week), unpaid, school credit only. Spring term begins in January and end in May. Fall begins in September and ends in December. The summer internship is a full-time paid internship, which runs from June through August. Press Here has been at the helm of national publicity campaigns for several celebrated and acclaimed musicians, actors and bands including Maroon 5, The Killers, Sigur Ros, Broken Social Scene, Bloc Party, Bat For Lashes, Mos Def, Arctic Monkeys, Lykke Li, Matisyahu, Soundgarden, Bright Eyes, Sleigh Bells, The Kills, Laura Marling and many more. We spearhead extensive national, regional, television, non-commercial radio and on-line campaigns, as well as special event coverage. Interns are responsible for aiding in day-to-day tasks in the areas of publicity, marketing communications and new media. Applicants should have a passion for music and be prepared to talk about industry trends and suggest blogs you cant live without. Were not talking about the ones everyone knows, but we want to hear what you think has its finger on the pulse of picking the next hypeworthy artists. Responsibilities include but are not limited to scanning/clipping, updating press kits, media research. Interns are responsible for aiding in day-to-day tasks in the areas of publicity, marketing communications and new media. Research in target communities includes: assessing community needs, implementing reach-out strategies, and becoming familiar with musical preferences. So far, Ashkenaz has worked with several communities on the UC Berkeley campus including KALX, I-House, UC Berkeley Music Department, and the Art Department. You will have a chance to become involved in our on-going projects which include Cal Music Spotlight and Cal Talent Night. Cal Music Spotlight invites student to compete in an online voting contest to perform as an opening act at Ashkenaz, and Cal Talent Night invites various artists and musicians to showcase their talent in an end of semester event. The goal for Spring 2013 interns is to build a lasting relationship between Ashkenaz and individual target communities. This may include concert brainstorming, event planning, and show promotions to the communities. TWO internships are available. Internships are not paid, but college credit is available.
