Greater Washington Sports Alliance is looking for qualified interns to join our 2010 Fall semester team. Reporting to the Director of Events, interns will be primarily responsible for supporting day to day activities of the Sports Alliances bid research & development, marketing, communications and event departments. Candidates should be proficient with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint), detail oriented, and able to work in a very fast paced environment. Candidates should also be creative, adhere to deadlines, and have excellent verbal and written skills. Overall Roles and Focus: Events Community Outreach Sponsorship and Development Client Services and Donor Relations Bid Support and Research Marketing Communications and Public Relations Events Include (but are not limited to): National Marathon National Health and Fitness Expo Tewaaraton Award SneakerBall Gala Anthem Great Pumpkin 5k 2011 Army Navy Game and Gala Other responsibilities include basic office operations such as storage and inventory, business card entry, data entry and database development, and operational support. A background and knowledge of sports is recommended, but is not necessary. Internship is unpaid, but can be used for college credit. Timing is September to December. The Chat Sports Premium Blogger Program was created as a platform for bloggers or aspiring journalism students to become the "voice of the fan" for their team. We are looking for smart, passionate writers and students who aspire to showcase their journalistic talents to a larger audience. As a writer, you will be tasked with monitoring the quality of the featured content. Also, keep your eye on Twitter to ensure the Twitter accounts of athletes on your team are being featured. 5. Spearhead investigative assignments as requested by the Chat Sports staff From time to time, we may ask that you report on a specific topic that relates to your team. 6. Special Events Coordinator – SCHWAN Food Company

Intern will work directly with the SCHWAN Food Company on their activations and programs at SCHWANS USA CUP. This includes but is not limited to Opening Ceremony, SCHWAN Zone, product distribution, contests and other special events. The candidate must be able to lift at least 50 pounds, understand the youth soccer landscape, have flexible hours and be able to work in a fast paced environment. Internship will also assist with administrative organization of major amateur sporting events and projects sponsored by the NSC and MASC, including, NSC Cup, Wal-Mart All American Cup, and more. Responsibilities will include registration, volunteer services, transportation, activities, campus operations, results/media, publications, special events, marketing and more. Start: May 2013 Hours -- During summer, hours are 40+ per week. Interns should be flexible with time, as many positions require event work in evenings and weekends. All positions are available for course credit as approved by your institution. Compensation -- All positions are a paid stipend based on commensurate of experience. Deadline -- Resumes and cover letters submitted prior to February 15, 2013 will be given preference.
