You will have the opportunity to attend different events and meet directly with members of the Illinois Senate Democratic Caucus. You will work directly with senior staff members on projects that are essential to electing Democrats in the State of Illinois. Political Fellows are responsible for assisting Staff with day-to-day political work. The Research and Editorial Intern will help in investigating a variety of right-wing movements and institutions, and producing The Public Eye magazine. Research responsibilities include: extensive web, library, or phone research; fact checking; meeting and coordinating with researchers and analysts; library work. The Public Eye responsibilities include: assisting with reporting and research; copy editing; proofing; selecting images; assisting with layout; writing assignments. PRAs research areas span gender, racial, immigrant, and economic justice; civil liberties; education; and other areas under attack by the Right. For summer 2012, we are looking for general interns interested in the right-wing and social justice as well as those with a focus on: LGBTQ Rights; Immigrant Rights; and Islamophobia and Anti-Semitism. Online magazine: PRA launched a new website in 2012, leading to new opportunities for web publishing, multimedia, and blogging. We are also looking for an intern with a journalistic focus interested in contributing to writing and editing as well as research specific to magazine articles, conducting and transcribing interviews, and suggesting new features.
