Volunter SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS) Programmer

Clinton Health Access InitiativeBoston, MA — Virtual
Since 2008, CHAIs Southern Africa Malaria Elimination Support Team (SAMEST) has provided day-to-day management and technical support to southern African countries (South Africa, Swaziland, and Namibia) as they began reorientation of their malaria programs from control to elimination. CHAI has contributed significantly to elimination progress in the region by working closely with the programs to mobilize resources, develop sound comprehensive strategic plans and guide the translation of strategies into high impact results. Swaziland is near to achieving malaria elimination with less than 500 reported malaria cases in 2011. To achieve elimination, Swazilands National Malaria Control Program (NMCP) requires robust data systems to ensure rapid capture of information on all interventions and all malaria cases. Information collected on malaria cases and the environment can be used to dispatch targeted interventions to halt malaria transmission leading to a more efficient use of limited resources. To this end, Swazilands NMCP developed a centralized Malaria Surveillance Database System (MSDS) for the storage, management, and strategic manipulation of malaria data and introduced Geographic Information Systems (GIS) to support the monitoring and evaluation of the malaria elimination campaign and to inform operational strategies related to vector control and surveillance. The MSDS was developed on Microsoft SQL Server and consists of 12 modules, which are the operational functions of the database that specific information on different NMCP operation areas including vector control interventions and surveillance activities. To improve analytics and utilization of the MSDS to halt transmission, CHAI seeks to support the NMCP in the development of a web-based, analytics system that will provide succinct reports on recent epidemiological indicators and recommended interventions for response. The analytics system will be built on SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS) and will be based on reports designed by CHAI in partnership with the NMCP.
