Organization Description Free the Slaves (FTS) is a nonprofit, nonpartisan organization dedicated to ending modern slavery worldwide. Founded in 2000, FTS partners with grassroots organizations in six countries to free people from slavery, help them rebuild their lives, and do what it takes to end slavery in their communities. Current partners include local anti-slavery organizations in Ghana, Democratic Republic of the Congo, Haiti, Brazil, India and Nepal. Informed by on-the- ground work and in-depth research, we then bring real-world solutions to policymakers and business leaders in the areas of policy, research, slave-free trade and communications, engage in high-profile advocacy campaigns on the federal and international level, and share compelling stories that inspire individuals to act and to build a global movement against slavery. FTS is headquartered in Washington D.C. Internship Program Description The Free the Slaves internship program is a formal effort to develop and train future leaders of the anti-slavery movement. We seek to provide each participant with training and hands- on experience in various facets of anti-slavery work. The program operates out of the Washington, D.C. office of Free the Slaves on a semester system, with three sessions per year: Spring (January to May), Summer (June to August), and Fall (September to December). Participants are expected to participate in an orientation session at the beginning of each semester. Internships are unpaid but students are often able to arrange academic credit, as Free the Slaves internships often offer direct exposure to the workings of an international human rights organization, close supervision by FTS staff, interaction with other U.S. and international organizations and foreign and domestic government officials, and opportunities to attend lectures, trainings, and special events relating to federal and international anti- slavery advocacy. Students should check with their individual academic institutions for requirements.

D-Squared Dance Theater is a dance and cultural arts organization. We are seeking bright, motivated interns with a background in marketing. We are particularly interested in candidates that have experience with online marketing and social media. The Marketing and Social Media Internship is an opportunity to gain valuable online experience from a technological prospective working with a non-profit starter arts company. Marketing Interns will work with the D-Squared Dance Theater. Interns will help promote the Company, and its performance dates, workshops and other marketing initiatives. Interns will also contribute to the social media efforts of the Company. RETAIN Coaching is a start up Parental Leave Transition Coaching company that helps working parents (or soon to be parents) and their work organizations better navigate the complex maternity/paternity leave time period (preparing for leave, during leave, returning from leave). RETAIN works with clients using an evidence-based coaching model over a roughly 8 month period. This longer time-frame allows the opportunity for systemic organizational change as well as the supported retention of working parents. Currently RETAIN Coaching is comprised of one founder, a vice president, and a growing network of independent coaches. RETAIN Coaching is at the very beginning of the start-up phase which allows an intern to get in on the ground floor. It is planned that the 3 month internship will turn into a paying job if cash-flow allows (terms to be negotiated). This internship is in Brooklyn NY - specifically in the Fort Greene/Clinton Hill Neighborhood, but hours and remote work options can be negotiated for the right person.

Phoenix Media Group is looking for interns for the spring of 2012 to work in both our office in Malvern and brand new TV studio in Phoenixville. The online content marketing intern at PMG will be instrumental in increasing our social media presence, increasing visibility for our company and creating online buzz. The content marketing intern will be responsible for all social medial channels, as well as researching and implementing additional existing and emerging social media channels. The Pulmonary Hypertension Association (PHA) is a fast-growing association of patients, family members and medical professionals impacted by this often misdiagnosed and difficult illness. PHA is committed to maintaining the organization's volunteer spirit and to building opportunities for those affected by pulmonary hypertension to be involved in solutions to the challenges the illness creates. PHAs Medical Services Internship offers students an opportunity to assist the Associate Director, Medical Services and program associates in providing services to physicians, researchers, nurses and patients. This critical support will enable us to continue to provide vital services to the PH community. The Medical Services Intern will be instrumental in helping staff manage PHAs two medical membership networks and ensure that medical professionals who belong to these groups have access to the resources they need. This intern will have a wide range of experiences in managing the medical side of a health-related non-profit. You will be treated as a respected team member. Our office is a friendly and welcoming environment. Interns may also earn college credit.
