Psychology Pre Doctoral Intern

Position meets all requirements for psychology pre-doctoral internship and follows the guidelines as set forth by California Board of Psychology, APPIC and APA. Position is designed to provide clinical supervision to psychology pre-doctoral interns who have prior experience working in a mental health setting. Internship is based in the departments of Psychology and/or Chemical Dependency, and serves primarily outpatient clientele. Position provides 2 hours per week of each of the following: individual supervision; group supervision; and didactic training. Supervision is provided by licensed psychologists.
Position is 40-hour per week, one-year, temporary with benefits. This position ONLY pertains to the Northern California Mental Health Training Programs.

Essential Functions:
Provide assessment and psychotherapy to adults, adolescents, children, and/or families in a brief therapy model
Co-facilitate psycho-educational  groups
Administer psychological tests and analyses, and write reports
Participate in regional, consortial, and departmental training activities 
Maintain confidential patient files/records and information in a timely manner
Comply with regional and local policies and procedures
Comply with APA's Code of Ethics and state laws pertaining to the delivery of mental health services
Other duties as assigned
Team-specific duties performed by pre-doctoral interns under the direct supervision of licensed psychologists:
Adult Team: Provide individual and group counseling to adults in a brief therapy model
Child/Family Team: Provide counseling to children, adolescents, and families
Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP): Provide services to patients needing more intensive treatment for stabilization, in a stepped-down treatment program for patients recently discharged from inpatient psychiatric unit
Chemical Dependency: Provide services to patients who are in the contemplation phase, the early stages of their recovery, and patients with longer-term sobriety
Provide separate and conjoint treatments for family members
Chronic Pain Management: Provide services to patients who experience chronic pain, including teaching them pain management skills such as pacing, medication management, staying active, relaxation techniques and positive thinking
Behavioral Medicine: Provide services to patients whose presenting problem is related to the treatment of a physical problem or psychological issues arising from a medical condition
Provide services to patients who are experiencing emotional or stress-related problems concurrent to receiving treatment for a medical diagnosis or physical symptom

Sports Administration & Event Management for NSC and MASC

Intern(s) will assist in the administrative organization of major amateur sporting events and projects sponsored by the NSC and MASC, including SCHWANS USA CUP soccer tournament, NSC Cup, Wal-Mart All American Cup, USA Rugby events and Star of the North Games. Responsibilities will include registration, volunteer services, housing, transportation, officials, activities, campus operations, results/media, publications, special events, sponsorships, marketing, competition/programming, ticketing and more. Start: April-May 2013 Hours -- During summer, hours are 40+ per week. Interns should be flexible with time, as many positions require event work in evenings and weekends. Webcasting Administration

Intern will manage NSCs webcasting service of various events and games during the spring and summer. The program will include producing/directing broadcast of up to 18 Minnesota Stars pro soccer home games, several NSC soccer tournaments, including USA CUP and NSC Cup. Also includes scheduling camera and on-air talent, promoting the product, troubleshooting issues and developing business plans. This position has elements of broadcast production and business management. Experience in using a TriCaster would be a plus. Start: March 2013 on a part time basis until May when the position becomes full time, and then part-time after August. Position will end when the Minnesota Stars season ends.
