Agency Mission: Save Our Youth (SOY) is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization, dedicated to transforming the lives of at-risk youth through mentor relationships, that provide the skills for success in educational, emotional, and spiritual development. SOY provides a Summer Academy to remediate students in language arts and math. SOY Summer Academies use online educational software. Academies run from 8am-2pm, each student spends 3-4 hours on the academic recovery skills and spends part of the day in life skills enrichment to enhance their educational experience. Interns are part of a larger group of 20+ interns who oversee 8-10 academic sites. Energy and motivation of the staff and the intern team are essential to the success of the Summer Academies. Job Description: Summer interns are key to the success of each academy. Their emotional and spiritual engagement and involvement set the tone for how much students will accomplish. Interns report to the Academy Site Manager in their administration of the academy in the following areas: Oversight of the online software Track students progress and attendance Assist students in math and language arts Oversight of all program logistics Provide classroom management Responsible for the spiritual and emotional development of the students Training in Why Try curriculum (a motivational positive change curriculum)

Within this umbrella concept, the intern will use SEO tools to focus on keyword opportunities and ranking, ensure a high volume of web traffic and optimized search terms. The Intern will maintain a solid presence in outreach in order to get links with high-traffic or subject-related websites. It will be important to create, update and revise SEO strategy/content for Youth Directions. This will require intimate knowledge and facility with the youth population, Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, WordPress, Google Analytics and any other social networking site or blogging connections. A solid grasp on words/phrases in SEO campaigns, a high level of skill at word choice in marketing campaigns and a critical attention to detail are all necessary for this position.

Internship Description: We dont want our interns to just be making coffee and filing papers were more interested in helping them learn the intricacies of keeping a small non-profit running. This internship combines an introduction to working in the nonprofit world with the opportunity to take this knowledge and apply your own creative streak. Part of the internship will be spent on the day-to-day activities in the office whether it be updating records, helping coordinate meeting schedules, answering phones, or assisting in summer projects. The other piece of the internship is the communications aspect. Interns will communicate with schools and youth in our program, in addition to replying to email queries, compiling newsletters, writing press releases, and assisting with grant writing and research.
