Burritt on the Mountain has been referred to as a "Jewel on the Mountain." Start with Dr. William Henry Burritt's eclectic mansion, add a historic park with restored 19th century houses including barnyard and animals, and finally throw in the artistic side with concerts, plays and exhibits, and you have a delightful mixture of old and new for young and old! In 1955, Dr. Burritt willed his mansion and surrounding 167 acres of land on Round-Top Mountain to the city of Huntsville (making it Huntsville's first museum). Since that time, volunteers and community activists have brought original homes from the area to Burritt to be restored and utilized as an educational facility. Our historic interpreters are always busy demonstrating activities as one would see on a 19th century farm. Blacksmithing, spinning, and cooking over an open hearth are just some of the skills employed in our historic park. The Education Programs Intern will be closely involved with Burritt's Education Department, which designs and leads a variety of activities and events every year for both children and adults. Summer interns will work closely with Burritt's summer day camp programs in particular, as well as our special Whimsical Woods feature. This internship period is flexible but is intended for Summer of 2012. Internship is unpaid and intern hours would range from 15 to 30 hours per week. This internship will provide excellent experience for anyone looking to pursue a career in Education, Public History, Non-profits, or Environmental Education.

MVG facilities are located inside Universal Studios Orlando which provides the demographic mix our clients seek. Our quantitative product testing, focus groups, and one-on-one qualitative interviews assure the validation needed in collecting accurate data for our clients to analyze. MVG will work within the colleges internship guidelines so that students may gain course credit for their participation. The internship will be paid by a stipend which is distributed out twice- ($125) at the half way point and ($125) at completion of the internship. Camp Friendship is a residential summer camp in Virginia, nestled in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains on 520 acres of rolling hills and scenic woods. Since 1966 Camp Friendship has offered boys and girls, ages 7-16, an opportunity to experience the best summer possible. Winterthur Museum, Garden & Library is the home of the former H.F. DuPont with 1,000 acres of naturalistic gardens set amid the rolling hills of Delaware's Brandywine Valley area. Appealing to a wide audience of tourists, culture seekers, and avid horticulturists, the Winterthur Garden is a historic and rare example of a "wild garden." The Horticultural Internship program began in 1991 and is a continuation of Henry Francis du Pont's love of horticulture. While Winterthur's garden features a naturalistic garden design with Marian Coffin influence in many areas, a great deal of time & effort goes into maintaining and presering this living treasure.

Winterthur Museum, Garden & Library is the former estate of H.F. duPont, with 60 acres of naturalistic garden set in the nearly 1000 acres of rolling hills of Delaware's Brandywine Valley. Appealing to a wide audience of tourists, culture seekers, and avid horticulturists, the Winterthur Garden is a historic and rare example of a "wild garden." The arborist intern assists the arborist in maintaining the health and vigor of the trees throughout the Winterthur Garden while learning arboricultural techniques. The intern participates in all aspects of tree care management, including ground and/or aerial pruning of trees.

The Groundskeeping Intern will learn proper turfgrass management techniques through hands-on experience in the day to day management of the turf within the Winterthur Garden and Estate. They will gain experience in handling a range of mowers and turf situations. They will also assist with the maintenance of the historic naturalistic design of the garden by learning and practicing good safetyand excellent horticultural techniques e.g. fertilizing, planting, pruning, leaf removal, mowing, spraying pesticides, mulching, weedeating and learn the cultural requireents and botanical nomenclature of the plants along with the design principles used in the Winterthur Garden.
