DescriptionNextGen Climate Action, a new San Francisco-based political action organization dedicated to averting climate disaster and preserving American prosperity, is seeking support generating content on its fast-growing digital team.
This internship requires a passion for confronting climate change, experience using social media to create change in communities and organizations, and strong written and verbal communications skills.
This entry-level position is an opportunity to help brand a new organization and help manage digital networks that over a few months have already amassed a 250,000+ strong digital following. Candidates with familiarity across multiple networks from a professional perspective will be strongly preferred. The successful candidate will be a self-starter, a creative thinker, a willing team player, tech-savvy, a solid researcher and a prolific and articulate writer.
The position is located in downtown San Francisco.

NextGen Climate Action is a new San Francisco-based political action organization dedicated to averting climate disaster and preserving American prosperity. We’ll achieve this by reaching cautious, concerned, and alarmed constituencies of Americans who have not been comprehensively activated, organizing them around a personally-felt sense of urgency, and directing that energy to raise the cost of doing business for policymakers acting against the interests of their constituents.
ResponsibilitiesConceptualize, plan, and research for high-impact social media campaigns
Craft social media copy for content, tone, voice, best practices, and errors
Coordinate with design teams and analysts to monitor social campaigns
Using past experience and fresh new ideas, grow and engage social communities on Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, Tumblr, Instagram, Reddit, LinkedIn, Pinterest, Google+, and the next big thing.
Assess immediate social needs for new campaigns and continually identify areas for improvement and growth
Help live-tweet events without error
Evaluate and use social media publishing, tracking, monitoring, and listening tools
RequirementsPersonal and professional experience managing social communities with proven success
Familiarity managing social media channels and communities (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, YouTube, Tumblr, etc.)
Commitment to and passion for NextGen Climate Action’s mission of averting climate disaster and preserving American prosperity through political action.
Meticulous attention to detail in writing and editing. Your social posts will be viewed by millions of people.
Strong eye for visual presentation
Creative under short deadlines
Ability to manage many different projects at once, from assignment to delivery
Familiarity with publishing platforms such as Sprout Social and monitoring programs like Visible Technologies a plus
Commitment to good research tactics
