World Dance Fusion
DescriptionWorld Dance Fusion, a fiscally sponsored dance company of Dancer's Group (a 501(c)(3) organization), presents multi-cultural dance programming throughout the year including a holiday show, The Jewish Nutcracker.
The whole world's worth of dance forms are explored in the choreography of World Dance Fusion, including Flamenco, Russian, Chinese, Persian, Kathak, Afro-Haitian and Capoeira. World Dance Fusion creates bridges between dancers who are often trained in one dance form and develops a dance community much broader in experience than what the dancers have known in the past.
Our dance company's programming includes participation in San Francisco's Carnival, the Ethnic Dance Festival, and performing at education and entertainment venues. In 2014, our full-length, exclusive production, The Jewish Nutcracker will be performed at The Theater at The Children’s Creativity Museum, Yerba Buena Gardens in San Francisco in December.
The Social Media Intern assists with maintaining an active social presence across a variety of social media and helps develop content/promotional campaigns for World Dance Fusion to help build advocacy and connect with the community, leading up to the scheduled performances, in the San Francisco Bay Area. This is a part-time position and reports to the Chair of the Board of Directors.
You will get to work behind the scenes of multiple dance performances as we plan our yearly programming. It is a collaborative setting, where all input is heard and discussed. We welcome your talents and contribution of time to World Dance Fusion.
About the Internships
Internships with World Dance Fusion are three-month, part-time (18-20 hours per week) unpaid opportunities that are intended to complement a student’s current program of study or other employment. Interns may receive academic credit for either their college or university upon request. Please note World Dance Fusion is not an accredited institution; therefore college credit must be granted by the Intern's current college or university.
Interns develop a personalized schedule with their host based on their availability. In addition to departmental projects, the Internship can lead to integrated projects with the members of the Board of the Directors. We ask that interns be available for performances as well as other meeting times.
Applicants must be currently enrolled juniors or seniors in undergraduate programs or master's candidates, or have completed a degree within the past year.

Go onsite to rehearsals, performances and board meetings to generate content
Social Media savvy

Meticulous, organized, focused, responsible, trustworthy & proactive
Enthusiastic with a can-do attitude
Ability to take direction and work autonomously to meet deadlines
Degree in progress in Marketing, Journalism, Communications, Art, Photography, Arts Management, Graphic Design, Visual Communication, Advertising, or related field
Clear understanding of and experience with social media metrics
Good video and photography skills
Proficient on PC or Mac
Journalism, interview skills, or creative writing a plus
Graphic design or advertising experience also a plus
