DescriptionMorDance is a small emerging contemporary ballet company based in NYC. We have just entered our second season and are a 501c-3 applied company. Currently, we looking for an intern to help with social media, outreach, events planning, fundraising, and various office ended needs. The company has made great strides in establishing a place in the competitive NYC ballet community in our first year and we hope to find someone who is as passionate as the dancers and faculty of MorDance.
Morgan McEwen, ballerina turned artistic director launched MorDance in January of 2013. This young company with dancers from various backgrounds – including the American Ballet Theatre, The Metropolitan Opera, Polish National Ballet, and Armitage Gone! Dance has playfully leapt to the edge of the classical ballet realm; exploring the use of athleticism and speed in its aim to modernize and innovate while honoring the grace and beauty of ballet. McEwen’s aesthetic is one that celebrates dance for its own sake, portrayed by an ensemble with varying backgrounds and strengths to bring to life a realm that is robust, uninhibited, and one with staying power. MorDance debuted at Manhattan Movement and Arts Center and was invited to perform at Dance at Socrates as well as the CounterPointe Project in 2013.
Responsibilities-Developing and managing social media marketing campaigns
-Developing community outreach
-Help at performances, events, and photo shoots
-Assist in development of programs and strategies to build online/offline awareness and engagement
Hours will vary depending upon where we are in our season. Average 5-10 hours per week with potential to grow into a larger position with compensation.
Requirements-Knowledge of ballet and or the performing arts industry
-Undergraduate degree or currently enrolled in college
-Self-motivated and energetic personality
-Attention to detail
-Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
-Experience with social media marketing campaigns
-Experience with event planning
-Experience with fundraising and marketing (not necessary but a plus)
-Experience with community outreach (not necessary but a plus)
