DescriptionThe National Kidney Foundation, the leading organization in the U.S. dedicated to the awareness, prevention and treatment of kidney disease for hundreds of thousands of healthcare professionals, millions of patients, and tens of millions of Americans at risk.
The social media intern will work directly with the National Walk Manager to perform outreach about the National Kidney Foundation Kidney Walk to online information outlets including blogs, social networking sites, and the online communications for the walk program. The social media intern will also be responsible for maintaining the Kidney Walk blog and regularly posting to the Kidney Foundation Facebook page.
The social media intern will have the opportunity to learn how to create and implement online marketing and engagement campaigns. This will include learning about new strategies, tactics and tools in the process of working with a fast moving and highly dedicated team at the National Kidney Foundation.
ResponsibilitiesHelp maintain the National Kidney Foundation presence on social networking sites (primarily Facebook, Twitter and the blog) by maintaining regular updates and stories. This will be done in partnership with the online editor and/or others at the National Kidney Foundation.
Build a social media campaign for the Kidney Walk by exploring other avenues for social media networking such as Tumbler, Pinterest, etc. This will be done by researching what other organizations are doing on these various outlets and create a plan for NKF to gain a presence.
Requirements• Completion of at least two years of undergraduate studies desired.
• Must have a passion for social and health issues.
• Must be an outgoing, personable and articulate net-worker and self-starter.
• Must be comfortable working in an environment where creativity is encouraged.
• Must be web savvy and enjoy keeping up with new content-sharing technologies online.
• Avid users of social media preferred.
• Experience on previous online outreach desirable.
