Effective social media implementation is critical to the growth of a greater community of business owners and supporters who seek a supportive, collaborative environment in which to do business. BESThq seeks a part-time (20 hours/week), unpaid, community-minded intern whose knowledge and understanding of the social media landscape will be instrumental in promoting company brand, optimizing social media presence and building an online community of BESThq members, followers, and partners. Applicant will be one part of a multi-intern team focused on the growth and success of our small business community. Successful applicant MUST be able to work closely with intern team and small business community members.

Working in close conjunction with BESThq team (interns, supervisors, community members/partners), successful applicant will facilitate and implement social media strategy. After an orientation of current social media strategy, successful applicant will perform the following (including, but not limited to):
* Manage (through daily and/or weekly postings) company social media presence on Twitter, Facebook and LinkedIn
* Research topics and provide relevant commentary to blog posts on company website
* Engage audience in weekly relevant discussions via social media platforms
* Assist in management of company subscriber lists and campaign reports
* Research and distribute content to Portland area online calendars
* Assist with administrative tasks as needed
* Work closely with intern team and supervisor(s) to accomplish team goals for community growth and opportunity
* Attend weekly team meetings and company events


Majors: Business, Communications, English, Journalism, other applicable
A successful applicant:
* Possesses excellent written and verbal communication skills
* Exhibits strong organizational skills
* Self-starts and exhibits a "take the ball and run with it" attitude
* Familiar and proficient with Facebook, Twitter, and LinkedIn (or willing to learn)
* Energetic team-player with fresh ideas for growing company's online presence
* Knowledge or willingness to learn Wordpress and other web-based application software
* Entrepreneurial and open-minded
* Provide own laptop
