Description

The Georgia Center for Child Advocacy, a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, seeks a Social Media/Marketing Summer Intern to execute a comprehensive social media strategy.
The mission of the Georgia Center for Child Advocacy is to champion the needs of sexually and severely physically abused children through prevention, intervention, therapy, and collaboration.
The Georgia Center for Child Advocacy was established as a private, non-profit agency in 1987. These services are provided at no cost to children who reside in or were abused in DeKalb or Fulton County. The Georgia Center for Child Advocacy’s role throughout the criminal investigation is to focus on the child’s needs, rather than focusing on the crime itself.

Job Description: This position is ideal for a bright and enthusiastic undergraduate or graduate student seeking to gain an insight into the marketing functions of a local non-profit. The goal of the internship is to help you explore the marketing field and provide you with real-world skills in the non-profit industry. Your work will have a tremendous impact on our ability to reach more people, and make a positive difference in the lives of others.

Responsibilities

o Grow and maintain our social media presence (via Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter, YouTube, etc.) and optimize our user interfaces
o Assist in creating and implementing strategic and innovative social media campaigns aimed at increasing awareness of the Center, expanding outreach, and improving communication with our target audiences
o Develop, collect and manage content including stories, anecdotes, special event information, and announcements to be shared online
o Create a method to track analytics to measure results and outcomes of efforts
o Provide marketing support for the Center
o Maintain editorial calendar
o Assist in writing and posting blog entries (with prior approval before posting)
o Assist in populating and sending the bi-monthly newsletter

Requirements

o Demonstrated proficiency in social media
o Strong interpersonal skills
o Strong organizational skills, including effective time management; able to meet deadlines
o Excellent writing skills
o Ability to work effectively on a team and independently.
o Ability to self-motivate and stay on task while carrying out routine tasks individually and as part of a team
o Ability to collect, analyze, and synthesize information from diverse sources

Hours:
Approximately 15-20 hours per week. The intern should be willing to communicate via Twitter/Facebook multiple times a day (with prior approval before posting). The position lasts three months, after which time there may be an opportunity for renewal.
