Description

Author Bruce B. Fisher tells the riveting story of Eric Blum, a boy growing up with Dyslexia and hardship following the Vietnam War in his fictional novel, Riding the Short Bus. The key message and purpose of this story is to highlight the reality that children who are teased by their contemporaries about riding the short bus are not necessarily retarded, but often misunderstood/misdiagnosed and usually turn out to be productive citizens. And the problems with the American public school educational system is as faulty at the dawn of the twenty-first century as it was in the dusk of the twentieth century.

Bruce is looking for a driven, passionate, and tech-savvy intern to help with the promotion of his book as well as the positive message of his story!

Responsibilities

Description: The Social Media Intern will potentially work on these projects, either a few or many: manage social media like Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, etc.; write and post frequently on blogs, forums, and social networks; online reaching out, attention grabbing and increase community. The goal is to promote the book and spread the positive message of the story to as many people as possible!

Location: This is a virtual internship! You will work from home (or school, or Starbucks, or the library…or wherever).

Timeline: Immediately! Approximately 10 hours a week for 15 weeks; we are flexible and your internship is negotiable. We will work with you.

Compensation: This is an unpaid internship, but the experience is priceless!

Requirements

Excellent verbal, written communication skills, well organized, and understand with knowledge of social media principles. Please be proficient with technology – email, internet, MS Office, and willing to learn user-friendly software (previous work experience with Web is a bonus). Please be organized, dependable, punctual, and able to work independently from home with phone and email support. We require you to attend phone meetings a few times a week (we will work with your schedule). Multi-tasking and being adaptable to changes in projects and priorities are typical of a Social Media Intern.
