DescriptionI am a published novelist. Recently, I have been overwhelmed by the time-consuming demands of
keeping up with social media, book club events, speaking events and all the other sort of tasks involved with keeping the public interested in one's book.
I work from my home office in Massachusetts. My intern could work from most anywhere as long as they have access to their own email account. We will keep in touch via email and phone.
ResponsibilitiesMy most immediate need right now (March 2015) is for an intern who can research writer residencies for me. I still need an intern who knows more than I do about how to use social media effectively; someone who knows how to use Instagram, Tumblr, Stumble Upon, Pinterest, etc (or who is willing to learn and teach me!) I have many taks that need to be performed weekly. They include finding the appropriate blogs and publication to contact regarding my book, sending emails to bloggers who review books, keeping track of my Twitter followers and their affiliations, doing follow-up when a speaking or book club event is scheduled, updating my website with new reviews, updating my publisher's site with new reviews, etc. I also will be rebuilding my website and can use help with that too. I need someone who is comfortable with all of these areas.
This is not a full time position and it does not pay. I will share all I have learned about writing, getting published, pitfalls, etc. I used to work for a daily newspaper and had a weekly column for 10 years.
I am a former teacher and am comfortable evaluating the intern's performance according to the criteria set by the school, college, etc.
