Description

The "Turning Point Suffragist Memorial Association" is a nonprofit organization based in Fairfax County, Virginia, dedicated to honoring the suffragists who fought for and won women's right to vote. TPSMA is leading a fundraising campaign to build a national memorial honoring the suffragists whose brutal imprisonment at the Occoquan Workhouse served as a significant turning point in the suffrage movement. The memorial will be located in Occoquan Regional Park, near the site of the Occoquan Workhouse.

TPSMA is looking for two interns to engage supporters through social media and expand the organization's reach and grow its audience.

Responsibilities

- Utilize social media to engage with TPSMA's online community
- Expand TPSMA's online and social media presence
- Participate in online fundraising campaigns
- Develop creative ways to advance fundraising goals
- Write blog posts

Requirements

- Background in communications, journalism or related field preferred
- Interest in history, political science and women's studies
- Excited about social media and how media and communications strategies are used to engage the online community
- Skills in writing, graphic design and/or digital content development
- Creative, enthusiastic and adaptable

Required - Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Pinterest, Google+, WordPress, Blogging
Preferred - Social Media Development, Content Design, Final Cut Pro, Adobe Design Programs
