Position: Internship

Hours: Intern will work approximately 15-20 hours per week. Candidate will assist on a variety of projects from administrative tasks to social media content creation and scheduling, research for articles and more. Hours are flexible as this is a mostly remote internship. We will meet with you once a week somewhere in the Chicagoland area.

Who We Are: Christine is the Founder and Writer of Life With A Side Of Coffee blog. She is the sole content creator of her website and manages her own social media and publicity as well as supports sponsors on a monthly basis. Christine is additionally a freelance social media and public relations consultant.

Katie is​ the Founder and Managing Editor of Beneath the Chandelier, a lifestyle blog. She creates all of the content on her blog and manages all of BTC's social media/promotions. She is planning to release an e-book and e-courses later this year. Katie also maintains a full time job.

Seeking: An unpaid Intern to assist with various social media, PR, and blogging tasks.

This is an unpaid part-time internship
Estimated weekly hours are 20​ hours per week, unless you have more time than that!
Schedule is somewhat flexible, as long as all deadlines are met.​
Create or continue a portfolio of your published work
You’ll learn ​multiple blog platforms​ about the blogging culture and a bit about social media from someone knowledgeable!


Responsibilities: Christine and Katie are looking for an intern to start immediately. The intern will be expected to assist on a variety of projects as well as handle administrative tasks as needed.
Schedule social media content
Create social media content calendars
Community engagement on social media through Facebook, Google+ Instagram, Pinterest and Twitter​
Research daily trends, stories, hot topics on blogs and social media ​
Research information for future articles, social media projects and PR projects
Photo editing​ and Video Editing
Drafting article content for Life With A Side Of Coffee​
Work with​ Katie to brainstorm ​blog post ideas, ​creative concepts for ​marketing ​campaigns and strategies to increase engagement across digital communities
Conduct research for blog posts, including reading other blogs, interviews, asking questions on Facebook, Twitter or ​Instagram​
Project assistance as needed for various aspects of Beneath the Chandelier relating to photo/video shoots, content creation, book release, e-course testing, site redesign, etc.​


Requirements: Applicants should be eager and excited for their careers and what they can learn through this opportunity. The applicant should be creative and a hard worker. They should be quick to respond to communications and able to meet deadlines in a timely manner.
Good grammar and advanced writing skills
Creativity and the ability to bring new, fresh ideas to the table
Strong knowledge of social media and how it works
Familiarity with the media
Ability to work effectively while working remotely
Friendly, fast learner and conversational
Must be a good writer, team player and technologically savvy
Organized, have a strong attention to detail, and be able to complete projects independently​
Be very tech savvy with a strong personal interest in the digital media landscape

Ideal but not required:
Interest in Pop Culture, Events, Travel, Culture, Blogging, Writing, Food, Wine, Entertaining, Home-Keeping and Organizing​
Photography skills
Familiarity with Asana and Hootsuite
​Experience with any of the following is a plus: market research/consumer insights work, social media monitoring tools, Google & YouTube Analytics, Facebook Insights
