Poston’s Fitness For Life is a 2,500 sq. ft. training facility, located in Dunkirk, MD, that focuses on personal, partner, small group, and team training. The facility will be doubling its footprint next month and will look to enhance its brand recognition and increase participation over the next six months.

Position Summary
The purpose of the Fitness/Wellness Intern position is to assist with the operation and implementation of health, wellness, and fitness programs, events, and services provided by Poston’s Fitness For Life. Interns will promote the mission of the organization in action and spirit.


Essential Duties/Job Responsibilities
• Job shadow the Director of Athletic Performance & Programming, Head Personal Trainer, and other Certified Personal Trainers
• Contribute to the marketing of all fitness and wellness programs and services through website promotions, newsletter articles, events, social media, etc.
• Assist with the development of sports conditioning training programs
• Perform evaluations for fitness programs, personal trainers, and personal training clients
• Complete necessary equipment evaluation reports
• Assist in compiling participation and evaluation data
• Assist in the coordination of community events related to health and wellness
• Implement departmental emergency procedures as necessary
• Assist staff with general day-to-day duties of the office
• Participate in each personal and group fitness class a minimum of two times per format, conduct class and instructor evaluations
• Attend all regularly scheduled office hours and meetings
• Other responsibilities as agreed upon by the Job Supervisor, Institution Internship Supervisor, and student

• Direct report is to the Director of Athletic Performance & Programming
• Additional responsibility to the Head Trainer and other Certified Personal Training staff
• This is an unpaid internship. To reach the required number of hours for the experience, interns typically work 8-15 hours/week
• This is a one-semester internship opportunity


• Pursuing a degree in Exercise Science, Sport Management, Marketing, Hospitality Management, Fitness Management, or related field
• Experience and interest in the fitness/wellness field
• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
• Must possess good organizational skills and be efficient in multitasking
• Ability to work independently and in a team setting
• Ability to work in a dynamic, changing, and diverse environment

• Full or part-time student in good academic standing
• Adherence to the appropriate internship handbook as outlined by the sponsoring academic institution
• Submission of a final portfolio to Job Supervisor and Institution Internship Supervisor
