DescriptionThe Harrisburg Heat has multiple internship positions open. We are seeking motivated, people-oriented interns. The ideal candidate for this position is passionate, positive, hard-working, and a success-seeking individual who demands quality in their work. This internship provides the intern a full view of the inner-workings of a professional sports team, allowing for an abundance of hands-on experience.
The Harrisburg Heat is a professional indoor soccer team and is a member of the Indoor Professional league. The Heat plays a 10 game home schedule at the Large Arena, running from November through February. Heat offices are located at the Pennsylvania Farm Show Complex inside the Maclay St. entrance.
Internships are available for those attending college or graduate school earning credits for one or more of the following majors:
Journalism Advertising Marketing Communications Public Relations
Dietetics/Fitness Sport Management
Graphic Design Web Design/Hosting
Interns will learn marketing, merchandising, game promotions, advertising, ticketing, public relations, radio/TV, field set up, graphics, social media, web management, etc.
Expectations: Interns are expected to dress professionally, be a team player, and work all home games during their internship. Start times anytime from August through the active season.
ResponsibilitiesDay to day, pre-season requires a lot of coordination in-office. Phone work, events planning under the supervision of the front office staff. Each home game is treated as an Event and Interns will be assigned a specific day to coordinate and take ownership of. Game days require a lot of hands-on activity from taking tickets, running a display table, coordinating halftime and other fan activities.
Hours can vary--day to day the office is open business hours: 9 to 4. Game day hours are according to schedule.
