DescriptionCoach Across America (CAA)
Village of Champions (VOC ) Sports is currently hiring for one AmeriCorps Coach Across America position in Philadelphia. The position will be a quarter-time position with a service term of one year starting August 1, 2015 and ending July 31, 2016.
The Coach Across America (CAA) position will support our Flag Football program with some emphasis on supporting other VOC sports.
ResponsibilitiesPrincipal Duties and Responsibilities (Essential Functions)
Recruit Participants and Manage Registration Process (Aug - Oct) The CAA coach will help to develop a recruitment plan and actively recruit youth to apply to the Flag Football Program. CAA's will organize open registration (that includes conducting interviews with applicants) and assist Program Directors with the applicant selection process.
Serve as a Coach/Mentor (Nov – Jul)
The CAA will be responsibility for supporting the following daily program activities.
Activity: Flag Football training, competition, and physical fitness based activities
• Academic Support: tutoring, college applications, college tours, etc.
• Leadership Training: mentoring program, goal setting sessions, high impact attribute workshops, etc.
Assist with other Program Components
• Open Registration
• Daily Attendance
• Measurement and Evaluation
Other duties as assigned
Must be at least 17 years of age and a high school graduate.
Ability to pass background screening that includes: PA state criminal history, child abuse History and FBI clearance.
Preference will be given to candidates with sports-based youth development, teaching or coaching experience, particularly with diverse, urban, and/or underserved populations.
Excellent leadership, communication and interpersonal skills – takes initiative, and builds and maintains relationships.
Strong organizational skills with attention to detail.
Ability to manage groups efficiently and effectively.
Available to work after-school hours (Nov – June).
Bachelor's degree preferred, Some Flag Football experience, playing and coaching experience

Completing timesheets Creating program rosters and attendance trackers administering evaluations to program participants Attending orientations and trainings reflecting on their service in guided reflection logs; and participating in a National Day of Service
