Description

Tournament and League Management/Marketing/Finance/Business Administration/Special Events: Seeking motivated students wishing to gain experience in all aspects of sports management/special events, to work with tournament and league directors in sales and marketing, pre and post tournament/league activities, scheduling, risk management, staffing, hospitality and “day of” duties. 20 - 40 hrs per week. Must be available to work weekends and evenings starting January 2017. Schedules will be discussed at interview. This is an unpaid position for students looking to complete credit hour requirements.

Responsibilities

• Lead by example and enforce rules accordingly
• Maintain professionalism at all times
• Able to work within different departments of the company
• Knowledge of facility operations to include all leagues, camps, clinics, tournaments etc. being offered
• Provide knowledgeable guest service
• Work within the confines of a budget
• Maintain, repair, upgrade, and order equipment when necessary
• Recognize the target area and advise target area towards the United Sports
• Correspond with prospective groups
• Awareness of the guests, community, trends, and facility offerings
• Ability to adapt to guest needs/desires
• Work independently as well as in a team environment
• Ability to understand, learn, and utilize various computer based AV systems
• Understand and carryout tournament policies and procedures
• Continue to update program offerings through market research
• Update website to remain current to program and facility needs/trends
• Knowledge of proper money handling procedures and execution of said procedures
• Knowledge of multiple sports/interests for future expansions and developments of programs
• Ability to think quickly and rationally in times of emergency to prevent further problems
• Ability to multi-task and meet deadlines
• Communicate with United Sports affiliated clients by phone, e-mail and/or in person
• Work weekends, holidays, and nights when necessary
• Ability to be firm in company policies and procedures
• Record all incidents encountered
• Inventory of items purchased
• Make sure all paperwork is up-to-date
• Follow-up with guests to learn how the product can be improved
• Complete special projects and daily assignments as directed by Senior Director

• Requires good communication skills, both verbal and written

• Ability to remain calm and focused in an emergency situation
• Must be able to work irregular shifts to include, nights, weekends, and holidays as needed

Physical Requirements
• Pushing/pulling a 50+ lbs. of equipment
• Ability to navigate around the facility for long periods of time
• Ability to climb elevated areas to complete tasks (i.e. – lift for scoreboards, etc.)
• Stand and walk for multiple hours at a time
