We’re looking to hire an Assistant Product Manager intern in the next few weeks! You’ll work directly with me (I’m a co-founder and the Head of Product Design) to help release new features every two weeks to hundreds of thousands of active users. It’s a fast-paced and exciting position, and you’ll be playing a pivotal role here at BrandYourself.

Logistics:
Location: Our office is located at AltSpace, a unique boutique co-working space in NYC. Located in one of the top cultural districts, AltSpace is currently home to numerous expanding startups and rapidly growing. With a work hard play hard attitude - we welcome tech savvy and tech forward startups, eclectic entrepreneurs, and those looking to pave their own path. This is a space to grow and prosper with surrounding inspiration.

Compensation: Although we’re growing quickly, we’re still a bootstrapped startup. So this is unpaid internship. However, the position is really an apprenticeship in product management where you will be relied upon to deliver bi-weekly product releases. Every two weeks you will see the fruit of your labor released to over 200,000 active users. When you leave, you will be prepared to hit the ground running with direct experience delivering product releases on a rapid schedule. That’s better than some of the paid internships I’ve had!

Hours: 20 hours a week, completely flexible around your schedule.

Responsibilities

Manually test and close tickets
-Test tickets marked as “Resolved” and re-open them with comments and screenshots if they’re not on spec
-Test everything after after production release from signup to profile creation to Search Score to site pings to payment

Create and run automated testing scripts
-Use a program like Selenium to automate testing the entire BrandYourself product flow, including connecting social media accounts like LinkedIn/Facebook/Twitter

Update outdated boost steps
-Test accuracy of boost step instructions once every two weeks
-Update and ticket boost step screenshots/instructions

Track product changes and their effect on product metrics
-Keep a spreadsheet of all feature releases with the metrics they were meant to improve
-Update how metrics changed over time to see if we hit our goals

Browser compatibility testing
-Test entire product on all major versions of all major browsers on a regular basis

Requirements

You need to be able to learn quickly. Every two weeks we’ll be working on a brand new project, so you’ll need to be able to dive right in and get up to speed.

You need to be someone who gets things done. The benefit of a startup is that decisions made in the morning can lead to a full implementation later that day. We are agile and fast, and you should be too.

You should to be comfortable using a graphic design program like Adobe Illustrator. Nothing crazy, just the basics. This is highly preferred but not required.

You need excellent written communication skills. You’ll have to be clear and concise in everything that you do. You should also have a keen eye for formatting text to make it easier for people to read – especially on the web.

Must currently live in New York and be available to start immediately.
