In search of talented college or grad students looking for an experience enriching paid summer internship. Come join Gannett, a top global digital media and Fortune 500 company, for our 2014 Gannett Digital Summer Intern Program. As part of the Gannett Digital team, you will develop, integrate and apply digital technologies in support of our strategic initiatives. This 8-week (minimum) program offers mentoring from those at the top of their game, networking and real world experience in a fun, start-up like environment. As part of our team, you will work on meaningful and impactful projects as well as connect with other interns and engage in professional development activities supplemental to the job. Come join us!

PURPOSE:

The qualified candidate will report directly to senior-level Program Management Director(s) for Gannett Digital Platform products and ideally should have working knowledge of digital product management, digital publishing systems, multimedia (e.g. video, games, puzzles, etc.) delivery across all digital platforms, and familiarity with (or interest in) linked data, Google’s knowledge graph, and semantic web technologies. This candidate should also have a working knowledge of content gamification trends and tagging/taxonomy principles. The person must possess strong analytical and organizational skills. An ability to multitask is also paramount.

Assist in competitive analyses of content or service providers/vendors for video, events, calendars, games/puzzles, and entertainment
Assist in personalization efforts, including identity authentication and security
Provide research analysis and create business cases for product enhancements/additions and be able to present and support findings to key internal stakeholders
Assist with product launches/updates as needed, focusing primarily on Video, Personalization, Games/Puzzles, Entertainment, and Events

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE & ABILITIES:
Desired Education/Experience:
Computer Science, Marketing, Business / Communications / Journalism, Media Arts and Design (or similar) majors with a GPA of at least 3.0
Required Skills:
Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, and Power Point) / Excellent written and verbal communication skills

• The intern must be well organized, detail-oriented, adaptable and flexible
• Excellent organizational skills, analytical and communication skills
• Interest in emerging digital technologies
Desired Skills:
Familiarity or interest in casual games (e.g. freemium mobile apps)
Interest in video content creation, delivery, curation, and management
