DescriptionPoetic Theater Productions is an NYC theater company working with poets & playwrights to create a visceral, poetic theater.
PTP seeks to define the modern genre of “poetic theater” by connecting and fostering a community of artists who are passionately creating relevant and accessible work and reinvigorating a conscious theater of language. Through a multi-runged platform of developmental programming, Poetic Theater Productions offers resources and opportunities for poets, playwrights, and theater artists to develop new work and see it through to production. PTP seeks out and creates opportunities to connect with communities affected by the issues of topic within our productions, in NYC and nationwide, through collaborative projects and exchanges of art and ideas.
We are seeking one social media/marketing intern with interest in designing graphics, editing video, posting listings, writing outreach emails and press releases, coordinating eblast trades, creative social media marketing, artist interview writing/dissemination, and card distribution strategizing/coordination. 10-15 hours/week: Sept - January
PTP works with a diverse population of artists. Candidates need to be conscious of race, sexual orientation, gender identity, mental health, and physical ability references when discussing these areas effectively so as not to appear insensitive or inappropriately ignorant. All interns must be to be available to help on the day of PTP events with front of house and production-related needs. Interns should be flexible and open to incorporating all kinds of feedback into new drafts and future projects. They need to be comfortable working with a group and individually, as well as being very accessible and responsive via email. Preferred software familiarity with and access to: Microsoft Word, Excel, Google Spreadsheets, Google Docs, Keynote, Illustrator, Photoshop, Pages, iMovie, Final Cut Pro, Facebook, Twitter, Hoot Suite.
Finally, candidates must be passionate about poetic theater!
