Overview

SFPH internships are designed for students or recent graduates who are seeking a career theatre. Interning at SFPH offers the opportunity to work hands-on at successful theatre company. Interns are an integral part of daily operations at SFPH. Interns participate in staff meetings and get access to a yourname-at-sfplayhouse.org email account. The internship will be a valuable, career-building experience; we guarantee you will strengthen your skills and resume. Unique opportunities including observing readings, rehearsals, workshops, technical rehearsals, auditions, special events are made available to all interns based on their interests. Internships provides an opportunity to gain a comprehensive understanding of the day-to-day and long-term workings of a theater company and, at the same time, assume responsibility for practical assignments that are critical to company operations. While each of the internships focuses on a specific department, each intern will get to dabble in all aspects of running a non-profit theatre company.

As a non-profit 501(c)3 organization, internships are volunteers positions. Interns receive a small stipend to cover transportation costs ($100/mo). SFPH cannot arrange housing. Interns receive at least two complimentary to each show for guests and unlimited half price tickets.

Internships are offered on a school year (September – May) and full season (September – August) basis. Internships are usually 20 - 35 hours per week and require a good amount of weekend and evening time. Regardless of internship field, all interns will assist during tech rehearsals and load in which occur over weekends. The ideal intern will have an open schedule that would allow interns to immerse themselves in every aspect of the company. Interns should expect to be at SFPH at least 3-4 days each week for 4-8 hours per day. Interns are required to attend and assist with all opening night Galas which are held on Saturdays. Interns will also be required to assist with: Season Sneak Peek Party (Monday in February), Season Announcement Party
