DescriptionWe are creating an amazing light suit and stage show set for the electronic music artist named Hyper Harp, www.hyperharp.com. This includes the merging of various technology such LEDs, sensors, MIDI, and other elements with large theatrical props such as movable wings and giant eyes. We are seeking interns to help us with the fabrication of this stage show who can assist with fabric and material attachment, structural implementation that may require use of power tools, design and engineering movable elements, and more. You will gain unique experience with this cutting edge project.
All work is done out of our downtown Chicago based studio. Flexible hours, including working evenings. There is the direct opportunity to continue working with us beyond your internship, under a full time position as our company takes on more and more projects for other performing artists.
ResponsibilitiesYou will have the opportunity to work with our design and fabrication specialist in completing the various phases of construction. You will work with special materials to be applied to structural elements for the stage props such as large 15 foot wings, or fully lit LED helmets. You will get to help with both structural elements and the finer details.
RequirementsYou must have either a good understanding of costume/fashion fabrication such as sewing, and working with materials and/or understand basic set construction using various power tools where needed.
SkillsRequired - Carpentry, Costume Design
Preferred - Sculpting, Fashion Design, Arc Welding, AutoCAD Civil 3D
