Description

Theatre Forward, based in New York City, is an association of 19 leading resident theatres from coast to coast. The mission of Theatre Forward is to advance American theatre and its communities by providing funding and other resources to our theatres. Theatre Forward seeks a Theatre Arts Management and Administration Intern to join our team.

We seek an intern to join our small and dedicated team in assisting with our development efforts, database management, our acclaimed Save My Seat corporate ticket program, and our slate of other spring events. You will also be very involved with the preparation for our annual Chairman’s Awards Gala, which this year will honor Glenn Close, Center Theatre Group and Roe Green.

This position works closely with all levels of the organization including key decision-makers in the theatre world and corporate America. This internship provides excellent exposure to: event and marketing management, fundraising, strategic planning, and both the national and New York theatre communities. You will get out of this internship what you put in, and have the opportunity to be a key aid in this process; not just another intern with office busy work.

Candidate should be available a minimum of 15-20 hours per week, spread out ideally over 4-5 days during the spring. Dates and schedule are flexible, with assistance required at the occasional evening event. Attendance at our Chairman’s Awards Gala on April 3 is mandatory. Our regular office hours are Monday- Friday 10am-6pm.

Applicants must be problem solvers, multi- taskers, and self-starters with strong communication and computer skills. You must have a strong knowledge of Word and Excel, and knowledge of Salesforce is helpful. Also, possessing excellent people skills, a confident phone manner, a great sense of humor as well as a strong knowledge of theatre is key.

Dates:
The internship will begin in January and run through the beginning of May (beginning and end dates flexible).

Compensation:
Each intern will receive a weekly stipend of $50 paid bi-weekly via direct deposit. If seeking college credit, we are happy to fill out any forms required.
