The National Journalism Center Internship
Washington College —
Washington, DC
The National Journalism Center is a non-partisan, non-profit journalism training program in Washington D.C.
NJC offers three 12-week sessions a year, spring, fall, and summer. Internships are available in print, TV/radio,
new media, and online media, placing interns at various news media outlets throughout Washington, D.C.
Since 1977, the National Journalism Center has trained aspiring journalists in the principles and practice of
responsible reporting. NJC teaches a free-market perspective of journalism; the successful journalist appeals to
a niche audience and maintains the trust of his readership through accuracy and responsible journalism.
Weekly seminars include a blend of writing assignments, journalism exercises and quizzes with our Academic
Director, and lectures with prominent public policy experts and journalists, and current event discussions.
Interns typically work four days per week at a news outlet, which could include evening and weekend hours,
and spend one day per week at the National Journalism Center participating in the training workshop.
