Internship in Scientific Editing, Revising, and WritingBookmark This
Clarity Manuscript Consultants, LLC
DescriptionOur company's goal is to assist scientists/physicians with a primary language other than English to revise, edit, format, and submit manuscripts to improve chances of publication in international English-language based journals. This language-barrier is often a hindrance for dissemination of solid scientific and medical studies to a wider international audience, and we focus on filling this need in the publication marketplace. Quality customer service is critical, and continued effective communication within the company and with our customers sets us apart in the market.
We are looking for talented young writers with documented experience in science manuscript writing, revision, editing, publication, etc. who plan on entering the journalism/publishing/editorial market and would like solid experience and opportunity to build credentials for such career aspirations.
Applications are currently being accepted for 1 to 2 interns to begin immediately for a 1 to 2 month internship period with potential for continued contributions dependent on intern performance, open positions and market demand.
ResponsibilitiesSelected intern will be required to follow deadlines very closely, communicate frequently with a supervisor, and meet exact demands to provide high-quality customer service. Necessary guidance and training will be provided. Most cases will have deadlines approximately 1-2 weeks from assignment. Rare cases may require faster turnaround. Potential exists for acquiring skills in formatting and submitting articles to specific scientific journals.
RequirementsAttributes required for the internship:
Documented experience in quality writing, editing, and/or revising technical, scientific or related papers or articles. Senior college science majors, medical students, and post-doctoral level researchers are most well-suited for this internship. Customer and case confidentiality is a must for this opportunity.
Publication record in these areas of expertise is also highly recommended, though not required.
Prospective interns with journalism as a college major or career goal may be considered if clearly able to interpret non-primary English (no translation work required) and interpret scientific/technical terminology for construction of high-quality manuscripts and articles.
A current resume or curriculum vitae (CV) demonstrating experience in writing, editing, journalism, science, medical writing or related area(s) is required.
A passion for bridging the gap between the author and audience should be an intrinsic character of applicants.
