At-Hand Apps is a mobile software development and marketing organization whose first product is a New England travel guide application. We are an innovative start-up working to enhance a sense of community through mobile applications. At-Hand Apps is a virtual organization, connected through Internet, text, audio and video links, but with its foundation members in the greater Boston area. Supporting the trend of living greener and localization, the goal of our pilot application is to be the premiere real-time discovery, organization, and creation of nearby day-trips and getaways. It enables users to see places and experience the things that turn them on, to build their own approach in their own style at their own pace.
You will be responsible for making visible contributions to this leading-edge, hospitality-travel iPhone app. You will add value by identifying, classifying and writing up travel activity-destinations for an exclusively assigned geographic area. Your descriptions will motivate app users in discovering, choosing and experiencing day-trip activities. You will be able to work from home and on your schedule, mostly doing on-line, web-research. You may also speak with activity representatives to fill in where the web is lacking. If your coverage area is where you live, you may get out in the field and write from direct experience. We estimate the work will be 10 or more hours per week for 10 weeks. We will coach, mentor and supervise your work as a partner in our success. Your work will get visible author credit and on successful completion you will receive a written letter of recommendation.
What you’ll need: Successfully complete an interview and produce a sample activity-destination assessment and write-up. Access to a PC, the Internet and a phone with a national calling plan is necessary. A video SKYPE account is helpful. Appropriate for majors: Hospitality Management, Travel Agency Management, Marketing, English, Creative Writing, Journalism, Communications, Information Technology, Web & Mobile Development, History, Geography, Professional Writing, and Related Fields.
