DescriptionSeeking detail oriented, tech-savvy intern to assist internationally renowned author Ying Chang Compestine with day to day tasks related to correspondence, appearance bookings, planning for movie production, and assisting with developmental and general editing.
Applicants pursing movie/animation production, fiction writing for children (picture books, YA, magazines, film adaptation), or wanting to write about food (cookbooks, magazines, cooking shows) will benefit most from the author's knowledge and experience. The author will help the intern prepare and submit his or her own work for publication.
Starting 15 hours a week. Ideally, the intern can train during the summer before beginning work in the fall.
Applicants should be able to commit to the internship for 8+ months, a longer commitment is a plus.
ResponsibilitiesPrimary responsibilities include drafting emails to movie studios, editors, and agents on behalf of the author, managing the author's schedule, organizing tour photos, and updating the author's social media (Facebook, LinkedIn, Wordpress). May be required to accompany the author to public events.
RequirementsStrong grammar and organization skills required. Interest in video and computer game production and English major a plus.
Skilled with Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and video editing.
Familiar with Gmail, social media (Facebook, LinkedIn) and technology (smartphone, tablet). If the intern finds that they are lacking in any of these skills, they are expected to learn on their own time.
Graduate Students and Seniors preferred. Applicants must be in college or recently graduated.
Knowledge of Chinese Pinyin is a plus.
