COURTSIDE NEWSPAPER is a growing basketball website, and dedicated to global basketball news. We are looking for interns who are extremely passionate about basketball and writing. Aspiring writers can work from the comfort of their homes. They will receive news and information from various sources and have the freedom to choose what they want to write about. In that capacity they will not only be the writer but also editor in chief during their “shift”. Initially, we are looking for somebody who wants to help us 6-12 hours per week. Although this is initially an unpaid internship it could develop into a paid one. Most of our posts are relatively short and fall into three main categories; 1-Player movements (100-250 words), 2-Lead story (350-650 words), 3-Other posts (200-400 words). To learn more about our website here is the link: http://www.court-side.com/news/
Our readers and writers are spread out over all the time zones of the world, so during your “shift” you will be the only one running the website. That means that you are the one who selects what’s newsworthy and you are the one who writes about it. You decide how to categorize that news and which photos should be used. This sounds like a lot, but as a rule of thumb there will be less than a handful short posts per shift.
- Experience with WordPress
- Ability to work independently
- Meticulous editor, perfectionist, obsessively attentive to detail
- Extensive basketball knowledge
- If you have some passive knowledge of Spanish then that is a plus, but it is not required.
