DescriptionAustin’s Place is seeking a Grant Writing Intern to help research and write grant proposals to fund programs, supplies, and events for the nonprofit. The grant writer researches, prioritizes, and applies for grants from a wide variety of governmental, private, and public foundations and institutions.
The internship is unpaid, but an educational stipend of $500 will be provided upon completion.

ResponsibilitiesAs a grant writing intern for Austin’s Place, your primary responsibility will be the identification of appropriate grantors and the execution and submission of grant requests.
Specific duties include, but are not limited to:
• Send letters of inquiry to prospective grant-making organizations and foundations
• Research potential grant opportunities
• Prepare grant proposals and grant applications with outstanding writing ability
• Prepare reports for grants received
The internship is part-time (approximately 10-12 hours/week). The opportunity to telework will be allowed for the right candidate. Timeframe/schedule is flexible from 9am-3pm, with occasional evening meetings. The grant writer intern will report directly to the Public Relations Officer.
RequirementsThe qualified candidate will have excellent writing, verbal, proof reading, editing, and organizational skills. Ideal candidates will also be self-motivated and detail- oriented with strong communication skills, ability to prioritize, and work well under deadline. Specific requirements include:
• An undergraduate or graduate student from an accredited university
• Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Publisher
• Experience writing grants preferred
