DescriptionWe're a new boutique book publishing company in Chicago (called Coney Isand Press) with our first non-fiction title coming out in November. It's a full-color nostalgic book about Dick Clark's American Bandstand during the late 1950s and early 1960s named BANDSTAND DIARIES.
We are looking for 1 or 2 upbeat creative people to help us market, promote, publicize and tell the world about our book. We have a website, www.BandstandDiaries.com and a Facebook book page of the same name. And we know we need to Twitter more (@BandstandFans), and launch a Pinterest and Instragram presence.
Our Virtual Publicity/Marketing/Social Media Interns will help us create flyers and promotional flyers, add content and press releases and news stories to our website/Facebook, etc., and strategize on events, book signings, Sponsorships, etc. The sky's the limit...we've only just begun. Whoever gets this creative gig will have a solid resume of experience to show on future work positions.
Our first edition is called The Collector's Limited Edition; the second printing will be called The 60th Anniversary Edition (that's how many years ago American Bandstand began in Philadelphia).
ResponsibilitiesWriting ability - be able to use photos from the book or the book cover and write press releases, announcements, website updates, etc.
Internet -computer savvy person able to add "stuff" to our website; its newsroom, readers' reviews, etc.
Social media common sense. Help make this book a favorite for people who are 65 plus.
RequirementsCreative mind which can capture the nostalgia and fan following we already have for this book. We call it "The book you've waited over 50 years to read." BANDSTAND DIARIES will appeal to baby boomers and seniors who remember running home from school to watch American Bandstand when it was in grainy black-and-white.
Ability to write a press release and research where to send it and to which media. Must love doing social media and making things happen.
