DescriptionThe Palestinian Ministry of Tourism is looking for volunteers to help with our expanding tourism sector. This specific internship will be conducted in the tourism office in the city of Hebron.
Internships are available throughout the year, preferably for a minimum of 2 or 3 months. This position is unpaid and interns will be responsible for their travel/living costs. Assitance to find housing is available. Notice: This is not a remote internship, the internship will take place in Hebron, West Bank, Palestine.
The ideal candidate will have a BA/BS in a related field. Expertise within the Tour & Travel Industry preferred. Excellent organizational, written and verbal communication, and interpersonal skills and be able to handle multiple tasks simultaneously and efficiently are required. An ability to write reports, business correspondence and marketing materials is a must. Qualified candidates will have the ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, customers, and vendors. All applicants should have an interest in Palestinian history and culture.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
-Familiarizing yourself with historical sites, local museums, vendors, restaurants, hotels, etc. to be able to help foreign tourists.
-Researching and locating new markets and clients within the tourism and travel industry to generate increased tourism to specific sites.
-Develop, monitor, and improve customer service policies and procedures.
-Assist in implementing tactics which will increase office effectiveness and efficiency.
-Help guide tourists to interesting and historical locations throughout Hebron city.
-Compile look-books, brochures and other materials to promote tourism in the area.
-Research and writing; e.g., short press releases, articles or Web content.
-Review and edit Ministry of Tourism publications.
-Assist with planning tourism events.
