DescriptionWe are an Urban Culture Magazine that highlights and exposes urban culture for all of the beauty and grit it offers to society as well as giving talented individuals an arena to shine and display their talents like none other. It's an global magazine that doesn't let geography, trends, or cookie-cutter boxes define what should or shouldn't be highlighted in a magazine.
Our team is a collective of creative individuals whom combined their skills to create a magazine highlighting a range of subjects from skateboarding to urban trends. We are the voice that will not be muted, the soapbox that will never be crushed, and the eyes that will never be blinded by the glitz and glam of success. We are professionals challenging the meaning of culture, tattoos, music, fashion, sports, politics, etc. and how these topics are classified as urban. We will push the envelope on subjects, we will have a voice in previously polarized industries, we will make you avid readers, and most importantly, we will make you think.
We are cultural urbanites, We are TUC Magazine.
ResponsibilitiesMust provide 3 articles or more a week this is MANDATORY
Editorial focus: Interns are responsible for fact-checking, proofreading, research, and occasional writing for our online magazine. Candidates should exhibit strong grammar and writing skills and have previous professional experience (preferably at a newspaper/magazine). A major in journalism or English is preferred.
Dining focus: The dining internship is an exceptional opportunity to explore the city’s culinary roots and report on local restaurants, events, and chefs. The intern will write and report stories for the magazine’s food section and produce weekly dining reviews. The successful candidate will have prior publishing experience, strong writing and reporting skills, the ability to generate fresh story ideas, and of course, a passion for food!
Music: Music interns write reviews or weekly music highlights along with interviews. Atlanta has a vibrant music scene; this section is one of the most popular and largest parts of the magazine – and for writers, one of the most competitive. Pressing deadlines on Fridays; availability will be considered in placement.
Arts & Entertainment: Interns interested in arts and entertainment will assist with covering topics including tattoos, visual arts, theater, film, dance, books, comedy and more. An A&E intern will also be responsible for pulling photos for print and online content, and working on the TUC Magazine website.
