DescriptionBestHealth, the community wellness outreach program of Wake Forest Baptist Health, offers health seminars, screenings and events to help you live a healthier life. BestHealth partners with community organizations, educational institutions, and corporate work force.
BestHealth provides education and prevention activities and by promoting and providing e-newsletters monthly and attending health fairs 2-3 times a month.
ResponsibilitiesMajor Responsibilities of Intern:
The BestHealth internship offers students and recent graduates an opportunity to assist with community events and projects that help keep community aware of upcoming classes. Duties may include one or more of the following assignments, depending upon an intern's interest and experience level:
• Conduct community research and compile information
• Provide community outreach during health fairs and special events
• Distribute health materials (i.e. fliers) at various locations within the community
• Assist in educating the public to a health promotion seminar
• Participate in activities offered during internship
• Assist with BestHealth events (seminars, cooking classes, and fitness classes)
This position is best suited for students or recent graduates with a high level of interest in health promotion/community health. Preferred academic majors include Health Science/Education, Public Relations/Marketing, or related fields. Interns must be at least 18 years of age with some college coursework completed.
Skills, Training or Qualifications:
Interns must have excellent oral and written communication skills, exceptional interpersonal skills and basic computer knowledge and experience. The ideal candidate is outgoing, able to interact with diverse populations and committed to BestHealth ongoing events.
Minimum 8 - 12 hours per week for 1 - 3 months. Hours are primarily scheduled during regular business hours (Monday through Friday between 8 a.m. - 5 p.m.). Schedules are flexible and can be arranged to accommodate school/work schedules. Interns who are able to schedule the maximum hours/duration listed for this internship generally gain a more in-depth experience.

This is an unpaid internship; internship is able to expose new opportunities and experiences. On some occasions, interns will be required to provide their own transportation to community events or local organizations located throughout Forsyth and Davie County. Mileage reimbursement is available for authorized travel. Interns who operate a vehicle as part of their duties must possess a valid driver's license and proof of auto insurance coverage for personal injuries and property damage. Parking fees may be required.
