DescriptionThe primary objective of the Bremerton Housing Authority is to provide decent, safe and sanitary housing to low income families at an affordable price. Our goal is to provide this housing within an environment that fosters the advancement of low income families from a position of dependency to one of self sufficiency.

An IT internship at Bremerton Housing Authority will help you learn the art of helping end users, administering computer networks, managing computer security and updating hardware and software, at the same time as assisting and empowering low income participants with their computer training needs.
Under the direction of the Housing Director and the Community Resources Coordinator, the Computer Lab Technician Intern helps facilitate the development and implementation of employment readiness training programs for eligible affordable housing and Public Housing tenants to create and meet self-sufficiency goals. Responsibilities include but are not limited to; coordinating services and resources for the Computer Lab Learning Center; overseeing the activities of computer lab volunteers; maintaining and updating hardware, software and networking; monitoring and evaluating existing computers, security, and data programs.
Responsibilities1.Maintain Computer Lab Computers and Networks to ensure systems are secure and running efficiently.
2.Update software when needed.
3.Coordinate activities of the Computer Lab Learning Center
a.Track and maintain records of participants.
b.Maintain computer equipment and software or oversee volunteers/interns who are fulfilling this task.
4.Work with community partners to establish training and social opportunities for low income clients
a.Help coordinate supportive services programs with BHA community partners.
b.Help monitor expenditures against grant funds authorized as needed
5.Help teach basic job skills to Program Participants utilizing the Computer Lab such as using MS Office products, internet-job search sites, etc.
RequirementsEducation: Working on Associates or Bachelors degree in information technology, or related field is required.
Candidates with working knowledge of computer systems technology and/or a specific understanding of Cisco network systems will receive greater consideration.
Must pass a background check indicative to the position requirements and in accordance with RCW 43.43.830-43.43.845.
Required Key Competencies:
1.Must have the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff, outside vendors, consultants, and clients.
2.Must have the ability to organize and establish priorities for work and effectively implement the priorities and instructions of the Community Resources Coordinators
3.Must be able to demonstrate strong leadership and project management skills to effectively oversee computer lab or computer training programs.
4.Must be able to demonstrate strong analytical problem solving skills.
5.Must have the ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing, with a wide variety of audiences.
6.Must have basic knowledge pertaining to hardware and network infrastructure and client server application environments and/or have the ability to obtain resources needed in this area.
7.Must be fluent in the use of Microsoft Office products including of a variety of data processing and spreadsheet software as well as web browsers and basic office machinery;
8.Must have the ability to interpret and apply Federal, State, and local requirements, laws, policies, regulations, and procedures as applicable to computer programs and reports.
