Flower Bomb Media Copy Editor Internship is designed to give the intern an overview of the fashion, beauty, entertainment, and mindfulness industries, with a focus on proofing, editing, and writing of articles, columns, and social media. Throughout the course of the internship, the intern will: Proof and correct content across all of Flower Bomb Media’s three publications [New Face, aka, Nfm, Dreamlette and Soulvive], social feeds and stories, and edit, proof, and advise on marketing material; Furthermore, the work completed during the course of the internship will allow the intern to create a portfolio to use for future endeavors.

Requirements

Key Duties Summary

  • Read over stories/copy/content and check for everything from typos to nonsensical sentences to errant commas. 
  • Editing copy on-screen for grammar, punctuation, and spelling.
  • Fact-checking when required.
  • Check text for style, readability, and adherence to editorial policies.
  • Rewrite text to improve clarity and readability.
  • Knowledge of and use of AP Style.


Requirements/Skills  

  • Copy editing and/or proofing experience.
  • Ability to work quickly while paying close attention to detail.
  • Familiarity with AP style.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Microsoft PowerPoint, and Microsoft Excel.
  • Proficiency in Google Documents, Google Sheets, and email.
  • Proficient English Grammar and writing skills.  
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and oral.
  • Ability to work independently and in a collaborative team environment.
  • Intern must complete all assignments and activities as directed.
  • Intern must adhere to the Flower Bomb Media Team Expectations guide.
  • Dependability and reliability.
  • Intern must complete a minimum of 14 hours of active work per week.
  • Intern must be 18 years of age, or older, to participate in the internship, or have written permission from parent/guardian.
