JUNTOS is currently seeking a Community Organizing Intern to support the development of our multiple social justice campaigns. 

This position will be supervised by the Community Organizer and will require some in-person activities in the office and in the South Philadelphia community. Through their work, the Intern will move between the following campaigns: immigration reform, anti-detention and housing justice. 

The Intern will be responsible for developing and translating political education materials and informational documents; preparing for community meetings; creating social media content; and expanding the base of the organization. The successful candidate will also support the overall programming and administrative needs of the organization’s ongoing campaigns.


A qualified applicant will have experience with canvassing, policy research and analysis, organizing in BIPOC communities and/or facilitation. This position will be hybrid virtual/in-person.  


Primary Responsibilities 

  • Assist the Community Organizer with preparations for weekly community meetings
  • Conduct research on campaigns including immigration reform, immigrant detention and housing
  • Help expand our base by canvassing the South Philadelphia area to support our campaign development efforts
  • Develop political education materials related to campaigns 
  • Facilitate workshops and community as needed

Secondary Responsibilities

  • Create flyers and other informational materials for upcoming events
  • Advertise events to the community through social media and other channels
  • Write/Design social media posts for the organization
  • Manage Juntos’ Social Media (Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp)

Requirements

  • Bilingual in Spanish and English, reading and writing with translation ability
  • Experience working with BIPOC communities
  • Capability to engage communities from diverse ethnic and class backgrounds in a respectful and welcoming manner 
  • Strong computer skills; proficient in Microsoft Office and Google Suite
  • Commitment to racial equity, social justice, and immigrant rights
  • Experience using Canva a plus (will receive training during orientation)
  • Strong local ties and familiarity with Philadelphia is a plus
