As a production intern with WJMS you will be assisting with the following:

  • Helping to edit the audio on podcasts from hosts with quick turnaround for posting at showtimes.
  • Assist in editing and/or helping to create ads for vendors when needed. 
  • Creating weekly soundbytes for the social media intern to post. These come from our podcasted content
  • Assisting with creating intros and outros for various segments and shows. 
  • Helping to create audio content for WJMS. This includes voiceovers, promos, and marketing materials/PSAs, station announcements and more.
  • Helping hosts with equipment and settings for optimal recording
  • Other duties as assigned within these parameters.


HOURS:

The hours of this internship are very flexible. We simply ask that you put in the effort required to represent the business professionally. 


STATION SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • At WJMS, we are big on engagement and follows on our social media. As an intern of WJMS Media you will be required to like, share, and/or engage with our social media posts on a regular basis. 
  • As a WJMS Intern you will also be required to listen our shows each week and post in real time about the content to boost engagement. 
  • At WJMS we pride ourselves on giving student the experience that other stations would not be able to. We have created an intern-based podcast that will be run and be contributed to by each intern of WJMS. You will be responsible for 2-4 podcast episodes ranging from 30 minutes to 1 hour to air on our WJMS Speakerbox podcast. These episodes can be about whatever topic you like, but you will be fully responsible to create, edit, and research/record them on your own. These episodes will be due during your internship season and can/should be used for your final portfolio.

INTERNSHIP SPECIFIC PROJECTS/CHALLENGES:

  • Help to create syndication packages for all 3 podcasts on WJMS Media. Listen to content, organize, polish and package for syndication. (Will work closely with show hosts throughout the semester)

 

NOTE:

As this is an internship, please keep in mind deadlines for submissions/information are crucial.

IDEAL CANDIDATE:

The ideal candidate for this position is a creative student with a passion for audio and video content. A budding content curator or content creator would work well in this role. We are looking for a student who can take initiative, be intuitive to business needs, and work with or without supervision.


At this time, WJMS Media internships are only open to College Students. We do not accept High School Student applicants.

Requirements

Weekly video call with key stakeholders and other interns to go over projects, tasks and business needs.
