The HIGH Program is looking for a reliable Podcasting intern to assist with the development and implementation of our podcasts. The Podcasting intern will be essential to the growth and development of our program through writing, editing, recording, and publishing podcast episodes. This internship will provide you with great field experience, professional networking opportunities, and the ability to make a difference in your community.


The HIGH Program will provide all necessary equipment for this internship.

Responsibilities for this position include but are not limited to:

  • Write and record podcast content in a manner that captivates the audience and communicates urgency towards our mission
  • Create publishing schedule and record for current and future broadcasts
  • Use Audacity to edit raw audio recordings into polished podcast episodes
  • Schedule interviews with internal and external personnel, prepare questions to ask and communicate these to the interviewee, record and publish interviews
  • Effectively communicate emotion through recordings to invoke an emotional response from listeners
  • Ensure our program’s identity and mission is consistently and effectively represented within all communications
  • Assist with the maintenance and advertisement of program podcast channels


Requirements

Our ideal intern is comfortable speaking on radio recordings, interviewing people, and have excellent written and oral communication skills; they speak with clear, proper inflections and invoke an emotional response in our listeners. They are proficient in Office 365 (ex. Word, Excel, PowerPoint), can work in a fast-paced remote environment, manage time, and meet deadlines. Previous experience with podcasts or audio editing software such as Audacity is preferred, but not required. In addition, all interns must meet the following requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Willing to undergo a background check through Wayne State University
  • Able to work within the program’s business hours of 9:00 AM to 5:30 PM EST, Monday-Friday
  • Able to commit 16-20 hours per week for the duration of the internship
  • Willing to commit to a 12-month internship

About Wayne State HIGH Program

The HIGH (Helping Individuals Go Higher) Program helps homeless, precariously housed, and financially stressed students at Wayne State University reach their goal of graduation. The program provides resources for students in need such as housing support, textbooks and other school supplies, clothing, transportation, and childcare assistance.
