Responsibilities include: 

  • Support in building and maintaining awareness of AAA 
  • Manage outreach calls and respond to family support requests via phone and email 
  • Research autism to help better inform our community and people seeking information
  • Participate in fundraising campaign and special donor projects 
  • Contribute to development of AAA programs, workshops and events 
  • Assist in administrative tasks related to community outreach
  • Research and develop autism-related resources


Requirements

We are looking for a student who has knowledge and experience in the subject of autism, and who has a passion for our cause. They must have excellent customer service, oral, and written skills. Majors preferred are in the area of Social Work, Psychology, Communications, Business, Speech Pathology, etc.


Must be authorized to work in the United States. Must be enrolled in a undergraduate college or university program and be a junior or senior.

Requirements

The intern will be required to work a minimum of 2 days/week. Our Spring internships will begin in mid-January and conclude in mid-May. All interns will receive a $600 stipend for their participation in our program. We are happy to help you arrange to receive school credit, fellowships, work-study or any other form of compensation available through your school or other institution.


The internship will be virtual, but your presence will be may required at any therapeutic recreational programs or events that take place in Miami or New York City (if located nearby).

Our unique recreational programs deliver community-based sports and physical activity programs for people with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). The American Autism Association encourages healthy lifestyles, fosters independence and inclusion, and promotes personal empowerment to better the quality of life for people with autism. Since 2010 the American Autism Association has been devoted to our mission, helping thousands of families each year through our Autism Help Hotline, therapeutic recreational programs, and parenting workshops.
