COMMUNICATIONS COPYWRITING INTERNSHIP

This position entails working with the Communications Department to convey the Make-A-Wish Hawaii mission and brand to various publics, including current and prospective donors, wish families, volunteers, medical professionals, and more. Tasks may include:

  • Interviewing wish families, volunteers, medical professionals, and other constituents
  • Crafting creative wish stories and blogs
  • Writing compelling, concise social media posts
  • Drafting media advisories, pitches, and press releases
  • Composing donor stewardship pieces
  • Copywriting for advertisements, marketing emails, and other collateral


Candidates interested in applying for this position should have a passion for interviewing, storytelling, and information gathering. Preference will be given to candidates pursuing a degree in Communications, Public Relations, English, or Creative Writing. Individuals most successful in this internship thrive in a collaborative, deadline-driven environment.

Requirements

Internships are available during the Spring 2024 semester and applications are accepted and reviewed on a rolling basis. We request a 10-15 hour per week commitment for the duration of the semester by potential internship applicants. To be eligible, potential interns must be enrolled as a student during the period of internship. Internships are also available for course credit (contingent upon university approval). All internships are non-paid. We have openings in our downtown Honolulu office. Qualified applicants must possess strong written and oral communication skills, working knowledge of the Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint), and demonstrate maturity and responsibility. Ability to handle multiple tasks and possess strong organizational skills is also encouraged.

About Make-A-Wish Hawaii
