Human Resources intern
AGENCY BACKGROUND:
Northern Manhattan Improvement Corporation (NMIC) is a community-based, not-for-profit organization founded in 1979. · Our Legal, Organizing, Advocacy, and Weatherization programs meet community member’s basic needs including legal representation, immigration assistance, housing advocacy, tenant organizing, financial services, DV and health related matters

SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES:
We are seeking a highly motivated HR Intern to join our team and support our onboarding process along with other HR tasks. This internship offers a unique opportunity to gain practical experience in human resources while contributing to the success of our organization. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Assist with preparing and organizing new hire orientation materials, schedules & logistics. Including onboarding paperwork such as I9 verification and other compliance related documents.
· Assist in the coordination of intern onboarding activities.
· Prepare and organize onboarding materials, including welcome packets and training materials.
· Guide interns through the completion of necessary paperwork and other compliance-related forms.
· Address interns' questions and provide ongoing support during their onboarding process.
· Assist with HR administrative tasks, including data entry and record-keeping in our HR systems.
· Maintain organized and up-to-date personnel files and documents.
· Support the HR team in the recruitment process by posting job openings.
· Help organize and coordinate training sessions.
· Track and maintain training records.
Additional related responsibilities may be assigned.
Qualifications:
· Availability for at least 15-20 hours per week.
· Interest in pursuing a career in the HR field.
· Currently enrolled in or working towards a bachelor’s degree or associate degree in human resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
· Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills.
· Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
· Self-motivated and able to work effectively in a team.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:
· This is an unpaid internship.
· Academic credit can be arranged if necessary.
· Internships are available for all semesters (summer, fall & spring)
· We offer a Hybrid work model at least 2 days are required in office.
