As a social media intern with WJMS you will be assisting with the following:

  • Updating our Facebook, TikTok, LinkedIn and Instagram pages daily with our content, pictures, promos, and hot topics. 
  • Help generating a social media plan/calendar and assist in executing it. 
  • Engaging the audience and starting meaningful discussions
  • Posting host promotional content with relevant and appropriate hashtags
  • Monitor trends.google.com for content curation and post relevant content up to 3 times per day. 
  • Follow and engage with at least 5-10 accounts per day and monitor for follow back. 
  • Create running log of trending hashtags 
  • Help find ways to increase followers through targeting, campaigns, curated content and promotions
  • Share the pages regularly with your network and friends to spread awareness
  • Posting flyers/videos and soundbytes as content teasers for audiences 


HOURS:

The hours of this internship are semi-flexible. Posting on social media can happen at any time outside of live programming hours, as long as it is appropriate and engaging. 


STATION SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • At WJMS, we are big on engagement and follows on our social media. As an intern of WJMS Media you will be required to like, share, and/or engage with our social media posts on a regular basis. 
  • As a WJMS Intern you will also be required to listen our shows each week and post in real time about the content to boost engagement. 
  • At WJMS we pride ourselves on giving student the experience that other stations would not be able to. We have created an intern-based podcast that will be run and be contributed to by each intern of WJMS. You will be responsible for 2-4 podcast episodes ranging from 30 minutes to 1 hour to air on our WJMS Speakerbox podcast. These episodes can be about whatever topic you like, but you will be fully responsible to create, edit, and research/record them on your own. These episodes will be due during your internship season and can/should be used for your final portfolio. 


INTERNSHIP SPECIFIC PROJECTS/CHALLENGES:

  • Challenge you to create 1 viral reel on TikTok, FB or Instagram generating at least 10K views. 


NOTE:

We are interested in great content that will bring in great audiences. You will be made admins on the social media pages for WJMS Media and we ask that you watch the trends and the posts and capitalize on what is working.


IDEAL CANDIDATE:

The ideal candidate for this position will be well-versed in social media promotion. Passionate about connecting with others and networking. Creative in their approach to promoting and curating content. The ideal candidate should be flexible with deadlines, able to work independently, and able to think outside the box to generate new and unique ideas. We prefer content creators in this role to maximize efficiency.


At this time, WJMS Media internships are only open to College Students. We do not accept High School Student applicants.

Weekly video call with key stakeholders and other interns to go over projects, tasks and business needs.
