Description

The Parenting Education Program at Forty Carrots Family Center is offering an internship opportunity for eligible undergraduate or graduate level students. The time frame for this part-time academic internship is January through May of 2024.

The intern will gain valuable experience and knowledge of applying the Six Protective Factors identified by the US Department of Health and Human Services to promote well-being and prevent child abuse & neglect. The intern will have the opportunity to work alongside our talented parenting educators to support family systems through mental health/play-based groups for caregivers & children (0-5 years of age). The intern’s primary role will be as an active observer. While the intern will be provided with training and relevant information, they will not be expected to directly handle families’/clients’ specific parental and childhood questions. These questions will be addressed by our parenting educators. The intern’s conversations with families/clients should remain neutral.  Responsibilities will also include supporting the parenting educators with program planning, set-up, and break-down in addition to other program essentials as needed.

This is a wonderful opportunity for any student pursuing a future in human services, social work, early childhood education, general education, counseling, or related field. If interested, please submit your CV or resume and two letters of recommendation to careers@fortycarrots.com.

This internship complies with the Fair Labor Standards Act. Forty Carrots Family Center does not directly issue academic credit; however, we will take appropriate steps towards ensuring that your educational institution’s requirements for academic credit are satisfied.  The internship requires successful completion of a Fingerprint Based Level 2 Background Check through DCF.

Requirements

Must be currently enrolled as a student in an academic program at an institution of higher education. Consideration will be given at both the undergraduate and graduate levels.
