Position Summary: The Accounting Intern compiles data from vendor/customer invoices and supporting documents to verify accuracy by performing the following duties . Responsibilities: Compares invoices against purchase orders and shipping and receiving documents to verify receipt of items ordered Reads computer files or computes figures to determine prices and discounts, following invoices and credit memorandums. Records data in control records Contacts vendors or buyers regarding errors in partial or duplicate shipments, prices, and substitutions Maintains files for Accounts Payable, Fixed Assets and Accounts Receivable. Enters information into computer Posts transactions to accounting records such as work sheet, ledger, or computer files Determines validity of invoices against actual materials ordered, making decisions as to whether or not an invoice is appropriate for billing or payment Track, record and label fixed assets Perform miscellaneous accounting tasks as assigned Qualifications: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, proportions, percentages Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists Ability to interpret a variety of instructions
