Event Summer Intern Root & Rebound - Oakland, CA 1 hour agoPart-time Apply Now About Root & Rebound: Root & Rebounds mission is to democratize the law by transferring power from the policy and legal communities to the people most impacted by our criminal justice system through public education, direct legal services, and policy advocacy. Position Overview Root & Rebound seeks a driven, flexible, and organized Event Summer Intern to support with the organizations 5th Annual Benefit taking place in October 2019. Root & Rebounds annual eventaims to host 250+ guests for dinner, drinks, and a silent auction, in addition to two keynote speakers who will join in conversation about some of the most challenging issues of our time and in our justice system. This individual will report directly to the Development Associate and work closely with all Development Department team members and volunteers. As a Summer Event Intern, you will: * Support in creating our silent auction website * Create silent auction and event signage * Secure beverage and dessert donations * Follow-up with previously purchased, yet unclaimed event tickets * Manage donation records on our internal systems (i.e: silent auction database, Google Drive, etc.) * Secure floral donations and additional event decor * Draft thank you emails to guests, donors and supporters to be sent after the event * Outline venue transportation logistics for guests and volunteers * Research guest swag items, given budgetary restraints As a Summer Event Intern, you are: * A passionate individual interested in working on behalf of social justice and criminal justice issues * A self-starter that also enjoys collaborating with a small Development Team * Extremely organized, with a strong attention to detail * A strong and confident writer, especially as it relates to external and community-facing emails * Reliable, yet flexible and adaptable to changes and new opportunities * Comfortable working in a fast-paced and dynamic environment * Experienced with Google Suite * A direct and clear communicator * A current college student, or have already obtained your Bachelors Degree * Available to work out of our downtown Oakland office at least 20 hours each week from 9:00am to 5:00pm between June 3rd - August 16th Compensation & Benefits: This in a part-time, unpaid internship role to support the planning and execution of our Fall 2019 Annual Benefit. The hours needed range from 20-25 each week, but the days and times are flexible. Additionally, the office will be closed on Thursday, July 4th and between August 12th - 15th for a staff retreat.
